Carl Schmitt

Carl Schmitt (1885–1985) was one of the most provocative and divisive political and legal thinkers in twentieth-century Europe. The most extensive and recent account of his life and work is the biography by Reinhard Mehring, Carl Schmitt: Aufstieg und Fall (2009), translated as Carl Schmitt: A Biography (Polity Press, 2014).
